Review: Maybelline Babylips

Yay photo quality...
These have been popular in America for a long time now, but they only came to the UK where I live in the summer. Immediately they were a massive hit, but they were often reviewed critically too.
The six flavours released in the UK (with packaging colours) are:
• Peach Kiss (purple and peach)
• Cherry Me (orange and dark pink)
• Pink Punch (pink and yellow)
• Hydrate (blue and pink)
• Intense Care (yellow and orange)
• Mint Fresh (green and purple)
I first bought Cherry Me, but it went missing before I had even used it once so of course I went back and bought all of them! (Btw the missing one didn't go to waste, I found it and gave it to a friend who had bought one but the man in the shop had not put it into her bag :O)
There are three tinted ones (the first three on that list) and three clear ones with SPF 20.
The first thing I noticed and loved about them was the packaging. It isn't exactly classy or fancy, but it's bright and cheerful and noticeable. In Boots it really stood out amongst all the other products. The other thing I spotted was that, unlike other makeup products in Britain, it was packaged on a cardboard backing with plastic over it and had no testers, so you don't know what it smells like or looks like until you actually buy it.
The packaging looks like this <3
Yay best image quality ever! Excuse: I accidentally deleted my photo so I had to take another in the blackness of my bedroom >:(

Isn't it adorable? Whenever I try to buy anything from Maybelline there's always a crowd of girls around the babylips.
So onto actually reviewing the product:
It smells really good. I know some people don't like that artificial fruit smell, but I do, and they smelled great. If you're not into that sort of thing Intense Care (in the yellow tube) smells just a little bit of almonds which is nice.
They aren't super moisturising. They're okay, but nothing special. They apply very nicely, and the clear ones do have SPF, so they are a nice enough product, but they aren't outstanding.
The tinted ones have nice pigmentation. Cue swatches:

L-R: Peach Kiss, Cherry Me, Pink Punch
Yep, I like the colours. For a while I used them instead of my beloved Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick (in 03, such a gorgeous nude <3) as my everyday lip product. I think the pretty tints are good for the teens like me who seem to be the people who buy the babylips the most.
Overall: they're alright, not brilliant. I won't repurchase the clear ones as I have better moisturising lip balms, but I will buy more of the tinted ones if I run out. At £2.99 (in Boots they were buy one get one half price and in Superdrug they were 2 for £5) they are not cheap for lipbalms, but not overly expensive. They make a good everyday colour. It's a ❤️❤️❤️
Love you all,
Flossie xx
